The Center for Creative Education offers innovative, high quality programs that foster creative expression through the arts.
Teacher Training
CCE began its first teacher training program in the summer of 2007. Guided by CCE staff and a corps of highly trained guest artists, the twelve students took classes in choreography, classroom management, anatomy and physiology, first aid, lesson planning, rhythm and music. Before final certification, each student is expected to complete CPR training with the Red Cross.
This forty-hour certificate program is designed to prepare advanced dancers to teach in CCE’s main studio as well as in after-school programs throughout Ulster County. It is expected that the course will be held every summer for two weeks and currently certified teachers will be expected to complete additional hours of continuing education each year to remain current.
One World Music Series
One of the ways that CCE fulfills its mission is to provide a venue for both established and emerging artists to present their work. We have a special focus on bringing the diversity of world music traditions to our community and have presented Cuban artists such as the Munequitos de Matanzas, Cutumba and Los Fakires, Ensemble Tartit from Mali, D’Gary from Madagascar, as well as numerous classical Indian performers.

The current incarnation of our music series blends an emphasis on world music with singer/songwriters from the distinctly American traditions of folk and blues. The Center offers at least one concert per month at its Stone Ridge site as well as select shows in other venues.
